BJP Leader Criticizes Punjab Governments Inaction on Drug Issues

Vijay Sampla criticizes Punjabs government for not tackling drug issues seriously, urging stronger action from the central government.

Hoshiarpur, October 21 (Daily Kiran) : Senior BJP leader Vijay Sampla has sharply criticized the Punjab government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for its lack of action against drug trafficking networks. Speaking in Hoshiarpur, he accused the state administration of not taking drug-related cases seriously, particularly in light of a recent CBI investigation linked to Mansa.

Sampla expressed concerns that the central government, along with Home Minister Amit Shah, is worried about the drug problem in Punjab and is prepared to take stringent measures against drug dealers. He pointed out that if the Mann government had acted decisively against drug abuse earlier, lives could have been saved.

Referencing the CBI’s actions in Mansa, Sampla noted that there is a significant drug network in the state, which has drawn the attention of the central authorities. He mentioned that Shah had announced the CBI’s arrival, which took place the next morning.

He also highlighted the plight of individuals in villages who have raised their voices against drug abuse, claiming their complaints were not taken seriously by the government. Sampla questioned the government’s response to the case of Gulzar Singh, stressing that timely action could have prevented the current crisis.

Furthermore, he assured that the central government is committed to addressing the drug issue in Punjab and will support affected families. The BJP stands firmly with those impacted by drug abuse and promises strict action against those involved in the trade.

On another note, Sampla commented on an incident involving Chief Minister Mann at Delhi Airport, where he was fined ₹50,000. He stated that the law applies equally to everyone, including ministers and the chief minister. If Mann believes he is innocent, he should seek recourse in court, Sampla suggested.

He criticized the chief minister for paying the fine, implying that it indicates wrongdoing. Sampla emphasized that all public representatives must adhere to the law and called for accountability from the Punjab government regarding its actions against drug abuse and other controversies.
