BJP Leader Accuses Opposition of Insensitivity Towards Sikh Community Ahead of Rally
BJPs Pratul Shahdev criticizes the opposition for planning a rally on November 1, claiming it disrespects the Sikh communitys sentiments.

Ranchi, October 31 (Daily Kiran) : In Ranchi, BJP leader Pratul Shahdev has strongly criticized the opposition for scheduling a rally at Delhi’s Ramleela Maidan on November 1. He claims this date was deliberately chosen to hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community. The opposition is asserting that millions will attend the rally, but Shahdev is skeptical of these numbers.
During a conversation in Ranchi, Shahdev defended Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, questioning what his alleged wrongdoing could be. He stated that Kumar is merely working on purifying the voter list, a process that has undergone Special Intensive Review (SIR) 12 times without objection from the BJP when they were in opposition. Shahdev suggested that the Congress party is concerned because illegal immigrants are being removed from the voter list through this process.
He noted that the business community has been urging the opposition to reconsider their actions for the sake of national interest. Shahdev emphasized that the choice of November 1 is particularly insensitive, recalling the tragic events of the 1984 Sikh genocide, and stressed the importance of respecting the feelings of all communities.
Addressing the claims of 20 lakh attendees at the rally, he expressed doubt, pointing out that Ramleela Maidan can only accommodate between 25,000 to 50,000 people.
On the topic of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Shahdev reiterated that it has always been part of the BJP’s agenda and has already been implemented in several states. He questioned why it should pose a problem for anyone, asserting that the UCC would establish uniform laws for all citizens and would gradually be applied in Uttar Pradesh as well.
