New Delhi, April 2: In the lead-up to the West Bengal assembly elections, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju has responded to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s statements, urging the public not to believe her claims. He asserted that she is adept at spreading falsehoods. This time, he believes the people of Bengal have decided to bring the BJP to power.
During a media interaction in New Delhi, Rijiju emphasized that the public sentiment in West Bengal is already clear. The collective mood of the people has shifted towards removing the Trinamool Congress from power and supporting the BJP. He attributed Banerjee’s statements to her desperation, suggesting she should refrain from using derogatory language against the BJP.
Rijiju recalled a time when Banerjee stood alone, allied with the NDA in the Lok Sabha. He noted that during that period, when communists surrounded her and resorted to physical altercations, it was the BJP that came to her aid. “We told her, ‘Didiji, don’t worry. Speak freely; we stand with you,'” he remarked. He believes Banerjee has forgotten those days, as the BJP is poised to secure a majority in West Bengal, reflecting the current public mood.
Responding to Banerjee’s comments about threats to her life, Rijiju advised the public not to trust her words. He cautioned that during elections, she may say or do anything, and people should not rely on her statements. He reiterated that the BJP does not use offensive or disrespectful language against anyone.
On the other hand, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asserted that the TMC is a party of the people, standing with them now and in the future. She claimed they fulfill their promises, unlike the BJP government, which has raised gas prices.
