New Delhi, May 12: BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh has leveled serious allegations against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers, stating that their alleged violence is a disgrace to democracy.
Chugh took to the social media platform ‘X’ to claim that BJP offices in Punjab’s Tarn Taran, Ludhiana, and Zirakpur were attacked and vandalized. He reported that some unruly elements damaged the offices, threw ink at BJP workers, and engaged in pushing and physical altercations.
Describing the incident as a blot on democracy, he asserted that it reflects the failure of Punjab’s Bhagwant Mann government. He questioned why police action is not being taken against such elements and whether there is a connection between the police and these alleged goons.
The BJP leader expressed concern over police inaction and emphasized that this issue needs to be addressed. He further stated that the BJP will firmly fight against all such elements and will not allow Punjab to become another Bengal.
Meanwhile, Punjab BJP’s acting state president Ashwani Sharma condemned the attacks and unruly behavior by AAP workers on BJP offices. He warned that they will not tolerate political threats or the misuse of police machinery.
Sharma accused the state government of misusing machinery, undermining democratic institutions, and attempting to divert public attention from corruption allegations against its leaders. He referenced the recent actions by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case involving Cabinet Minister Sanjeev Arora, noting that whenever investigative agencies act against AAP leaders, the party immediately cries that ‘democracy and the constitution are in danger.’
Punjab BJP President Sunil Jakhar also warned AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal against disrupting the atmosphere in Punjab, asserting that the BJP will never allow AAP’s attempts to turn the state into ‘Mamata Banerjee’s Bengal’ to succeed.
He added that the people of Punjab are watching everything. No matter how much drama AAP puts on, actions against corrupt individuals who are looting Punjab will continue, reaching even those who are still hiding behind the scenes. Punjab police must take strict action against this hooliganism without delay.
