New Delhi, September 1: Leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Janata Dal United (JD(U)) have attributed India’s impressive GDP growth of 7.8% in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2026-27 to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s economic policies. They also countered accusations from the opposition.
BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal stated, “No individual or expert expected India to achieve more than 7% GDP growth under the current circumstances. Despite the challenging environment filled with uncertainty, PM Modi’s economic strategies have fostered confidence in the nation, resulting in a 7.8% GDP growth. This will undoubtedly benefit our traders and industries.”
Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat remarked, “We have made significant and tough decisions to develop the Indian economy. These decisions were made with a long-term vision. We have reformed policies to make India self-reliant and a manufacturing hub. The world is currently facing tough times, with economies under pressure and geopolitical instability. Yet, even in these difficult circumstances, the Prime Minister has promoted manufacturing and exports, making India an attractive destination for countries, businesses, and investors.”
Uttar Pradesh Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak emphasized, “Under PM Modi’s leadership and policies, India’s economy is consistently progressing. Today, we are the fourth-largest economy in the world. This GDP growth shows that under PM Modi’s guidance, we will achieve the vision of a ‘Developed India’.”
JD(U) National General Secretary Shyam Rajak noted, “This reflects India’s economic policy. The determination and patience with which our Prime Minister and Finance Minister are working indicate their dream of making India a global leader by 2047. This growth is a strong step in that direction.”
JD(U) Chief Spokesperson Neeraj Kumar added, “It is significant that India’s 7.8% GDP growth comes at a time when the global economy is facing challenges. This growth not only demonstrates that the country is overcoming these challenges but also gives us hope for better development metrics. India’s economic model is becoming an example for the world.”
Meanwhile, Union Minister Satish Chandra Dubey criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for labeling India as a “dead economy.” He said, “He views it from the same perspective as when the country was looted from 2004 to 2014. If he had studied mathematics, he would understand what this growth signifies. He hasn’t studied math. If he keeps wandering around, how will he know how GDP has increased?”
