Lucknow, September 1: Priyanka Maurya, a member of the Uttar Pradesh Women’s Commission, has sharply criticized Akhilesh Yadav over allegations of fake and caste-based encounters, his promise to give women ₹40,000 upon election victory, and his comments against the STF.
In an interview with IANS, Maurya questioned, “Who is talking about women’s respect? Akhilesh Yadav? He can’t even speak a word for his wife, nor does he stand up for her honor when someone makes derogatory remarks. He sits quietly, as if his mouth is sealed. He talks about giving ₹40,000; instead of that, women should have the right to respect and dignity.”
Maurya emphasized that under Modi’s government, women are receiving respect. She stated, “Today, women are being consulted, their rights are being discussed, and equal participation in Parliament and assemblies is being advocated. Women have become a topic of discussion, and whichever party they vote for will form the government.”
Responding to a statement by SP MLC Lal Bihari Yadav, Maurya remarked, “The leaders of the Samajwadi Party are saying that even if a dog is given a leash, it should win. Are all members of their party in the same category? If they give a ticket to a dog and it wins, will that dog develop the public and give women ₹40,000? The public will understand, listen, evaluate, and respond at the right time. Desperate to come to power, Akhilesh Yadav will be completely finished this time.”
She added, “Akhilesh Yadav claims that casteism is happening and encounters are based on caste. First, I want to remind you that Shivpal Yadav recently said that when they come to power, Azam will be made Home Minister. Those providing protection to criminals are all from the Samajwadi Party. Therefore, please check the history of the encounters happening. Everyone should see that these encounters are entirely justified; only criminals are being targeted.”
Regarding Akhilesh Yadav’s confusion over PDA, Maurya stated, “He is completely confused. Sometimes he interprets PDA one way, and sometimes STF another. The national president of the Samajwadi Party and his entire party are confused about what to say, and they are just trying to create full forms for every word. These goons have no shame! The way they ran Uttar Pradesh, they want their era to return. They are extremely anxious; their only thought is to do whatever it takes to come to power.”
On comments made by Maulana Sajid Rashidi, president of the All India Imam Association, Maurya said, “There are many Islamic countries where women feel so oppressed. Daily atrocities are committed against those women. If you want to live in India, you must abide by the Constitution of India. This kind of drama and terrorist-like thinking will not be tolerated in India, as I have said before.”
Commenting on the Grand Mufti Sheikh Abubakar Ahmad’s statements about women, Maurya asserted, “This is India, and it runs according to the Constitution. The Constitution states that women and men should have equal rights. Therefore, those making such statements have a mindset akin to terrorists, which is why they harbor such filthy thoughts about women. The way women are treated in their religion clearly indicates that there is complete disorder, as the highest number of oppression cases come from their faith. They believe women should not have an equal share at any social level because their thinking is deeply flawed and dirty.”
