Jorge Martin Cleared for Free Practice 1 at Malaysian Grand Prix
Aprilias Jorge Martin has received medical clearance to participate in Free Practice 1 at the Malaysian Grand Prix after a wrist injury.

Sepang, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : Jorge Martin of Aprilia has been given the green light to participate in Free Practice 1 at the Malaysian Grand Prix after a medical check-up on Friday morning. This announcement was confirmed by MotoGP on Thursday.
The 2024 champion sustained a wrist fracture during a crash in the Australian Grand Prix sprint. Concerns arose regarding his ability to compete at the Sepang International Circuit due to a non-displaced fracture in his right wrist.
Fortunately, Martin received clearance to take part in the morning practice session. After Free Practice 1, the MotoGP medical team will conduct a review of his condition.
In addition to Martin, Raúl Fernández has also been declared fit for FP1, having previously been unfit due to a finger injury suffered during the Australian GP.
Martin crashed in Saturday’s sprint in Australia and was unable to race on Sunday. However, the race was ultimately canceled due to bad weather, providing some relief in the championship battle for Martin.
Following the sprint crash and Marc Márquez’s victory, Martin finds himself 10 points behind in the championship standings. Had the race proceeded and Márquez scored points, the situation could have been even more challenging for Martin.
Last week, Aprilia team manager Paolo Bonora expressed optimism about Martin’s return for the upcoming weekend. He noted that Martin was in good spirits.
Bonora stated, “It was great to see Jorge in attack mode yesterday, making several overtakes. He also demonstrated that his race pace is very strong.”
He added, “The crash was significant, but we are happy because he is now in good condition. Over the next few days, we will monitor how the situation evolves. This morning, he appeared to be in a very positive mood, which is encouraging for us.”
Bonora also mentioned that surgery is not anticipated, keeping the path open for Martin’s return. The team is committed to getting the 2024 champion back on track for the next race, depending on the medical team’s advice. They are focused on making this happen.
