Bird Strike Forces Air India Express Flight to Land Safely in Bengaluru

An Air India Express flight experienced a bird strike en route to Bengaluru, but all 148 passengers landed safely without injuries.

Bengaluru, October 20 (Daily Kiran) : An Air India Express flight traveling from Visakhapatnam to Bengaluru encountered a bird strike on its journey. Despite the incident, the aircraft landed safely at Kempegowda International Airport, with all 148 passengers reported safe.

Flight IX2065 continued its route and was parked at the terminal after landing. Ground engineers and technical teams promptly began a thorough inspection to assess any potential damage to the aircraft’s structure or engines.

Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported among passengers or crew members. This incident follows an earlier emergency landing of an Air India flight from Frankfurt to Delhi, which had to divert to Jaipur due to a reported “squawk 7500” signal—a code indicating a potential hijacking.

The alert was received by Ahmedabad Air Traffic Control, leading to the safe landing of the aircraft in Jaipur. However, the specific reasons for the alert remain unclear.

In light of changing security conditions in West Asia, Indian airlines have temporarily suspended flight services to several cities in Saudi Arabia. Flights to major cities like Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam have been halted, with some airlines also canceling flights to Medina.

Air India announced that all flights to and from Riyadh, Dammam, and Jeddah will remain canceled until October 20, with full refunds being offered to affected passengers. Air India Express has extended its suspension of flights to Dammam, Jeddah, and Riyadh until the same date.

IndiGo has also canceled flights to these destinations until October 24, while Akasa Air has suspended its flights to Riyadh until October 24 and to Jeddah until October 21. All airlines emphasize that the safety of passengers and crew is their top priority and are closely monitoring the situation in the region.
