Patna, March 6: The political landscape in Bihar is experiencing turbulence following Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s decision to join the Rajya Sabha and submit his nomination papers. Leaders from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), including Tejashwi Yadav and MP Manoj Jha, have alleged that Kumar’s move is not voluntary but rather a result of pressure from the BJP.
Tejashwi Yadav accused the BJP of hijacking Nitish Kumar’s political agency, stating that the public granted a majority for five years, and the BJP has disrespected the people’s mandate.
In response, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh countered Yadav’s claims, asserting that the people of Bihar have unwavering faith in the partnership between Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He emphasized that this trust was reflected in the significant majority the public gave during the assembly elections. Chugh questioned why Yadav was troubled by Kumar’s self-initiated decision to join the Rajya Sabha and urged the opposition to refrain from making baseless statements.
Chugh further pointed out that the people of Bihar have rejected Tejashwi Yadav, implying that his current statements stem from frustration over his political sidelining.
Regarding the appointment of senior BJP leader Nand Kishor Yadav as the Governor of Nagaland, Chugh remarked that the BJP is expanding its influence across the nation, with Bihar’s progress visible throughout the country.
Bihar is set to hold elections for five Rajya Sabha seats, with the BJP contesting two, Janata Dal (United) also contesting two, and the Rashtriya Loktantrik Morcha (RLM) vying for one seat. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced his intention to join the Rajya Sabha via a social media post, confirming that he submitted his nomination papers in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
