
Mumbai, March 4: In a significant operation on Tuesday, police and the Special Task Force (STF) successfully apprehended a wanted criminal, Deepak Kumar, also known as Deepak Yadav, in Saharsa district, Bihar. The arrest was made following a joint raid, during which several weapons were recovered.
Police Superintendent Himanshu reported that the operation was part of an ongoing campaign to capture wanted criminals ahead of the Holi festival. Acting on a tip-off, the police learned that the notorious Deepak Yadav was staying in a rented room in Sarahi Tola, New Bazaar. Based on this information, a special team was formed, which quickly surrounded the area and arrested Yadav. The accused is a resident of Baluhaha Baijnathpatti.
During the search of his room, authorities discovered a cache of weapons. The police seized two country-made pistols, one foreign-made pistol, a magazine, eight live cartridges, two sharp tools used for breaking into vehicles, and two mobile phones. A case has been registered at the Sadar police station, and legal proceedings are underway.
Superintendent Himanshu noted that Deepak has a long criminal history, with 11 serious cases registered against him, including violations of the Arms Act and attempted murder, across various police stations such as Saharsa Sadar, Saurabazar, Baijnathpur, Bihra, and Simri Bakhtiyarpur. He was currently wanted in seven serious cases and has been involved in multiple incidents within the Saharsa Sadar police jurisdiction. The police are interrogating the arrested suspect, with hopes of uncovering information about other criminals.
