Bihar Lawmaker Accuses Government of Targeting Specific Criminals

Patna, February 11: The opposition in Bihar is intensifying its criticism of the government regarding law and order issues. On Wednesday, RJD legislator Bhai Virendra accused the government of targeting criminals from a specific caste. He emphasized that they do not support any criminal activity.

Bhai Virendra, speaking to the media, highlighted the rising crime rates in Bihar, asserting that the government has failed to curb these incidents. He pointed out that criminals are not being apprehended. “Criminals exist in all castes, but the government focuses on targeting only one caste,” he stated.

He specifically mentioned that Yadav and Muslim criminals are being targeted while non-Yadav offenders receive protection. “I do not support criminals, but action should be taken against all. Criminals exist in every caste, and all should face consequences,” he added.

In response, JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar remarked that criminals do not belong to any caste or religion; they are simply criminals. He stated that law enforcement takes action against offenders and that police also act in self-defense when fired upon. “Where does caste or religion come into play?” he questioned.

Earlier on Wednesday, a notorious criminal was shot in the leg during an encounter between police and criminals in the Alamganj area of Patna. The injured suspect was taken to a local hospital for treatment. A police officer revealed that they received a tip-off about a gang gathering near Gaighat with intentions of extortion.

Based on this information, a police team along with the Special Task Force (STF) arrived at the Gaighat area and began surrounding it. When cornered, the criminals opened fire on the police. In response, officers returned fire, injuring one suspect in the leg, leading to his capture. The injured criminal has been identified as Rajiv Kumar, also known as Surya Don.
