Bihar Deputy CM Orders Removal of Illegal Hoardings Within 24 Hours

Patna, February 12: Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister, Vijay Kumar Sinha, has issued a stern warning regarding revenue losses due to illegal hoardings. He announced that all unauthorized hoardings in Patna must be removed within 24 hours.

Sinha directed the Patna Municipal Corporation and district administration to eliminate the ongoing illegal hoarding and parking operations that are costing the government millions. A recent government review identified a total of 1,092 hoardings in Patna, of which 243 were found to be legal and government-sanctioned. However, 849 hoardings have been declared illegal and are now subject to removal orders.

The Deputy Chief Minister emphasized that illegal hoardings and parking are causing significant revenue losses for the government each year. An extensive network of unauthorized advertising and parking collection has been operating for a long time, necessitating strict enforcement.

He clarified that these illegal advertising boards not only detract from the city’s beauty but also harm the government’s finances. Following this directive, it is expected that the municipal corporation, traffic police, and revenue department will collaborate on a joint “bulldozer campaign.”

Regarding illegal parking, Sinha stated that operating parking facilities in public spaces without permission and collecting illegal fees from the public will no longer be tolerated. This practice inconveniences citizens and deprives the government of revenue.

It has been reported that a comprehensive review of the hoarding and parking systems in Patna will be conducted. If deemed necessary, the government will identify locations for advertising and parking to enhance revenue generation.
