Bihar Cabinet Expansion Set for Thursday as JD(U) Demands 16 Ministerial Positions

Patna, May 6: The cabinet expansion of Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary in Bihar is scheduled for Thursday. The historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna is being beautifully decorated for the swearing-in ceremony.

In the meantime, the Janata Dal (United) or JD(U) has formally requested 16 ministerial positions in the cabinet expansion. Umesh Singh Kushwaha, the state president of JD(U), spoke to the media regarding the cabinet expansion event, stating, “The cabinet expansion is happening tomorrow. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be present, along with many leaders from the NDA.” He emphasized that the final decision on the cabinet rests with the Chief Minister.

Kushwaha further mentioned that senior NDA leaders are currently discussing the matter and will make a decision. He confirmed, “It has already been decided that we will have 16 ministers. However, our consensus leader, Nitish Kumar, will make the final call. We will also consult with others, but the decision will ultimately be made by our leader.”

It is noteworthy that last month, Nitish Kumar resigned from the Chief Minister’s position after being elected to the Rajya Sabha. This led to the formation of a government under the BJP’s leadership for the first time in Bihar, with Samrat Chaudhary taking the oath as Chief Minister. Alongside him, JD(U) leaders Bijendra Prasad Yadav and Vijay Kumar Chaudhary were sworn in as Deputy Chief Ministers.

On Thursday, Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary will expand his cabinet. The swearing-in ceremony will take place at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, with Prime Minister Modi witnessing the event. Key figures such as Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, JP Nadda, and party president Nitin Naveen, among others, are expected to attend.

NDA leaders, including Nitish Kumar and Jitan Ram Manjhi, will also be present. All NDA MPs from Bihar and central ministers from the state will participate in the event. The Bihar NDA coalition includes BJP, JD(U), LJP (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha, and the Rashtriya Lok Morcha.
