Bayern Munich to Part Ways with Raphael Guerreiro at Seasons End

Berlin, March 31: Portuguese international Raphael Guerreiro will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the current season. His contract is set to expire, and both Guerreiro and the club have decided not to extend it.

Guerreiro joined Bayern Munich in 2023 on a free transfer from Borussia Dortmund. During his time with Bayern, he played a total of 89 matches, scoring 12 goals and providing 8 assists. His versatility was a significant asset, as he contributed not only as a full-back in defense but also stepped up in midfield when needed. This adaptability made him a valuable player for the team, helping secure multiple titles, including the Bundesliga championship and the German Super Cup. Additionally, he has represented Portugal in 65 matches.

Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl, praised Guerreiro’s contributions, stating, “We want to sincerely thank Raphael for the time he has spent with us. You can always rely on Raphael on the pitch, and players like him enhance any dressing room.”

Eberl noted that discussions between Guerreiro and the club were positive and respectful. “Our conversations have been constructive, based on trust and mutual understanding. Now, we are focused on our goals together until the summer, as we still have much to achieve.”

Both Guerreiro and Bayern Munich are now concentrating on the remaining matches of the season. The team currently leads the league, sitting 9 points ahead of the second-placed team. Their next match is against Freiburg, and Bayern is once again a strong contender for the Bundesliga title.
