New Delhi, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is exploring the possibility of a bilateral series with Nepal, aiming for a match by 2027. This initiative follows an invitation from the Nepal Cricket Association for Bangladesh to host the series on their home ground.
According to a report by ‘Cricbuzz’, Shahrayar Nafees, the BCB’s cricket operations chief, shared details with reporters on Saturday. He stated, “The Nepal Cricket Board sent us a proposal some time ago expressing their interest in playing a bilateral series with Bangladesh. The BCB has received this invitation very positively. Discussions between the Bangladesh Cricket Board and the Nepal Cricket Association are ongoing.”
Nafees acknowledged the busy schedule of their Future Tour Program (FTP) but emphasized their commitment to finding a suitable time for both teams. “If we can allocate appropriate time within the current cycle, we will strive to organize this series. If everything goes according to plan, we hope to see this series take place,” he added.
He further noted that the focus is on organizing the series within the 2027 cycle. The Nepal Cricket Association has made a request for this series, and the BCB is working on it positively. “When discussions reach a stage where we can provide clear information about the series, we will keep you updated. For now, I can say that we have been contacted by the Nepal Cricket Association, and we are looking at this proposal with a very positive outlook,” Nafees stated.
Additionally, Nafees mentioned that Bangladesh will begin preparations for the Asian Games starting September 13. The Asian Games are scheduled to take place in Japan from September 19 to October 4.
