New Delhi, December 5 (Daily Kiran). Weight loss is not a one or two-day trick, but a natural process of balancing the digestive fire within the body. Ayurveda says that obesity increases when our digestive fire becomes weak and food is not digested properly. In such cases, toxins start accumulating in the body and later gather as fat, leading to weight gain. Therefore, the real treatment is to correct the digestive fire, balance daily routine and improve eating habits.

Charak Samhita also clearly states that excessive sweet intake, laziness, oversleeping and irregular lifestyle increase fat in the body. Obesity does not occur due to one reason, but due to many small wrong habits, such as eating something or the other throughout the day, staying awake till late night, drinking cold drinks, spending time sitting and taking excessive stress.

For weight loss, first drinking lukewarm water with lemon on empty stomach in the morning speeds up digestion and makes the body feel light. Taking Triphala at night removes old toxins and strengthens the digestive fire. Warm-natured ingredients like turmeric, black pepper and dry ginger in food are beneficial. Ayurveda considers daily 30-minute walk, half-stomach meals and balanced fasting as the golden rule for weight loss. Regarding diet, morning porley or barley water, light lunch like moong dal and vegetables, and very light dinner in the evening, that too two hours before sleeping.

Some simple remedies boost digestive fire, such as a little ginger-salt before meals, cumin-coriander-fennel decoction once a day, amla or aloe vera juice in the morning, long pepper with honey and lemon ginger tea. These make the body light from within and increase metabolism. In daily routine, waking up early, yoga-pranayama, reducing screen time and 7-8 hours of sleep is extremely important. Surya Namaskar, Kapalbhati, Bhastrika and abdominal yoga postures reduce fat rapidly.

Light detox once a week like only soup, fruits or coconut water resets the body, although very strict dieting can cause harm instead of benefit.
