Assam Chief Minister Announces Rescue of 26 Dogs, Vows to Combat Animal Cruelty

Assams Chief Minister announces the rescue of 26 dogs, reaffirming the governments commitment to combat animal cruelty and illegal trade.

Guwahati, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on November 3 that 26 dogs have been rescued and given a new lease on life. He reiterated the state government’s commitment to addressing animal illegal trade and exploitation.

Sharing the news on the social media platform X, Sarma emphasized that these rescued animals now have the chance to live happy and safe lives. He expressed that the 26 dogs, referred to as “lovable friends,” have been given an opportunity for a better future. The Chief Minister highlighted that a new chapter of care, compassion, and hope awaits these animals, stressing that Assam stands firmly against the illegal trade and exploitation of innocent creatures.

Sarma stated that no life should be treated as a mere object. He also praised the Assam Police for their role in ensuring the safe transport of the animals and assisting in their rescue.

Accompanying his post were images showing several dogs being cared for by individuals at a center, where they were receiving medical assistance following their rescue.

This operation comes amid growing concerns regarding animal cruelty, illegal animal trade, and the need for strict enforcement of animal protection laws. Sarma’s statement made it clear that the state government opposes the commodification of animals and underscores the importance of coordinated efforts by law enforcement agencies to prevent their exploitation.

The Chief Minister’s post also highlighted the necessity for compassion and responsible behavior towards animals, especially those victimized by trafficking, neglect, and abuse. The Assam Police’s efforts to ensure the safety of the rescued animals, who are now receiving medical care, were commended.

This event is viewed as a significant step in the fight against animal exploitation and in raising awareness about animal welfare in the state. However, the Chief Minister did not disclose the exact location of the rescue or provide further details regarding the circumstances under which the 26 dogs were found.
