Delhi Chief Minister Calls for Collaborative Efforts to Transform Capital into Medical Hub

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasizes the need for public-private collaboration to enhance healthcare infrastructure in Delhi.

New Delhi, November 3 (Daily Kiran) : Chief Minister Rekha Gupta of Delhi stated on November 3 that both government and private sectors must unite to transform the national capital into a leading medical hub. Speaking at the inauguration of an IVF center at a private hospital, Gupta highlighted the importance of strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring quality medical services for all residents.

Gupta emphasized that for Delhi to truly become a medical hub, collaborative efforts from both sectors are essential. She referred to World Health Organization standards, which recommend a minimum of five medical beds per 1,000 people. Currently, Gupta noted, Delhi has approximately two beds per 1,000 residents, falling short of this benchmark.

To meet the target of five beds per 1,000 people, both public and private entities must work together, Gupta asserted. She expressed the need for proper healthcare facilities for anyone visiting Delhi, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision, which the Delhi government is actively pursuing.

In her remarks, Gupta praised the contributions of private hospitals in the capital, acknowledging their service to millions and their role in saving countless lives over the years. She noted that the journey began in 1937 and reached a significant milestone in 1977 with the establishment of the hospital.

Reflecting on the COVID-19 pandemic, Gupta commended the dedication of the hospital staff, who continued to fulfill their responsibilities during challenging times. She expressed gratitude to the doctors and management for their unwavering service to the people of Delhi, stating, “No doctor, staff member, or management representative turned away from their duties.”

Gupta also highlighted the hospital’s commitment to ensuring that no patient is denied treatment due to financial constraints, reinforcing its reputation for serving the community. She reiterated the necessity of ongoing collaboration between healthcare institutions and the government to expand medical facilities and improve access to treatment for all.
