On Thursday, Asmita secured a memorable victory by defeating Canada’s Heidi Quach in a tough final match at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in the women’s 48 kg judo event.
During the thrilling final, the Indian judoka remained calm and executed a perfect strategy combined with strong defense to overcome Quach, marking her biggest win in the Commonwealth Games journey.
Right after Asmita’s victory, India secured another gold medal in judo. Harsh Singh clinched gold in the men’s 60 kg category by defeating Australia’s Joshua Katz.
The 23-year-old Singh faced tough competition from Katz initially but launched a powerful attack with just 41 seconds remaining.
