Beijing, May 1: The sixth Asian Beach Games concluded on April 30 in Sanya, Hainan Province, China. The Chinese sports delegation topped both the gold medal and overall medal tally, securing 24 gold, 18 silver, and 13 bronze medals.
In this edition of the Asian Beach Games, China sent 171 athletes to compete in 13 sports and 60 events. Their impressive performance led to a total of 24 gold, 18 silver, and 13 bronze medals, marking their best showing in the history of the Asian Beach Games.
Yang Xin, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Chinese sports delegation, stated that the results reflect the growing strength of the team. Significant achievements were made in newly added events, the competition layout was more balanced, and young athletes delivered outstanding performances. This has resulted in a notable boost in China’s overall strength in beach sports.
The Chinese team excelled in four events: women’s shot put, men’s 5 km open water swimming, mixed relay (swimming and running), and women’s 100-meter dragon boat. In speed climbing, Chinese athletes broke world records four times in men’s individual, men’s relay, and women’s relay categories.
