New Delhi, June 16: The ongoing triangular series in Sri Lanka features India A, Sri Lanka A, and Afghanistan A competing in One Day Internationals. Fast bowler Ashok Sharma has been included in the India A team, taking the place of the injured Yudhveer Singh.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced, “The men’s selection committee has included Ashok Sharma in the India A team for the ongoing triangular series in Sri Lanka, replacing Yudhveer Singh. Yudhveer reported discomfort in his right shoulder while bowling on June 13 and experienced similar issues during a fielding session on June 11.”
The statement continued, “After consulting with a specialist, the BCCI medical team has advised Yudhveer to undergo a rehabilitation program at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) to fully recover from his right rotator cuff injury.”
Ashok made a significant impact with his fast bowling in IPL 2026, taking six wickets in six matches for Gujarat Titans (GT). Previously, he claimed the highest number of wickets in the 2025/26 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, with 22 wickets in ten matches.
This development follows Ashok’s confirmed switch from Rajasthan to Gujarat for the upcoming domestic season. He becomes the second player after India’s leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi to transfer from Rajasthan to Gujarat in domestic cricket.
In domestic competitions, Ashok will now represent Gujarat instead of Rajasthan, having received his No Objection Certificate (NOC). His inclusion is seen as a boost for the Gujarat team.
The updated squad for India A in the triangular series includes: Tilak Varma (captain), Ruturaj Gaikwad (vice-captain), Priyansh Arya, Vaibhav Suryaanshi, Ayush Badoni, Nishant Sindhu, Suryaansh Shedge, Prabhsimran Singh (wicketkeeper), Kumar Kushagra (wicketkeeper), Vipraj Nigam, Yash Thakur, Anshul Kamboj, Arshad Khan, Anukul Roy, and Ashok Sharma.
