New Delhi, August 18: A tragic incident has emerged from the Govindpuri Extension area of the Kalkaji police station in New Delhi. Renowned musician Ravi Day was discovered dead in his rented apartment after lying there for nearly five days. Neighbors alerted the police due to a strong odor emanating from the residence. Subsequently, the police arrived, broke the lock, and retrieved the body.
Reports indicate that Ravi Day lived alone in his rented accommodation. Following his death, no family members checked on him for several days, leading to the decomposition of his body.
On August 14, local residents reported the foul smell to the police. A police team responded and broke into the apartment, where they found Ravi Day’s body, which had significantly decomposed and was infested with insects.
The police took possession of the body and sent it for autopsy. The post-mortem examination was conducted on August 16.
Initially, Ravi Day’s sons informed the police that they had no relationship with their father and did not come to claim the body. However, after discussions with police officials, the family eventually stepped forward. Once the autopsy was completed, the body was handed over to his sons.
Currently, the police are investigating the case. It is initially being treated as a natural death, but the exact cause will be determined after the autopsy report is released.
A similar distressing case recently surfaced in Sonipat, where none of the three daughters of an elderly man living in an ashram attended his last rites. The situation gained attention after a video of one daughter watching the funeral via video call went viral.
