New Delhi, March 9: The Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) team in the national capital has apprehended an active auto-lifter. During this operation, three stolen two-wheelers were recovered, revealing three separate cases of vehicle theft. The AATS has been closely monitoring auto-lifting incidents in the northeastern district, gathering intelligence to track down such criminals.
On March 7, 2026, acting on a tip-off, the team swiftly intervened. Led by Inspector Yogesh Vashisth, they stopped an individual near the MCD School in Old Mustafabad, who was riding a Yamaha R15 motorcycle.
The rider was identified as Sadan alias Saddo, a 20-year-old son of Mohammad Nazar, residing in Gali Number 2, Dayalpur, Delhi. When asked to produce ownership documents for the vehicle, he failed to provide any. The investigation revealed that the motorcycle had been stolen from the Dayalpur police station area.
Based on this information, the accused was arrested under Section 35.1 of the Indian Citizen Security Code at the Dayalpur police station. During interrogation, Sadan confessed to his crime. Following his lead, the team recovered two additional stolen vehicles, including a scooter and another motorcycle, which were found to have been stolen from the Jafrabad and Mandawali police station areas.
The police have initiated further investigations into this matter. The success of the AATS team is expected to help curb vehicle theft incidents in the area. Such operations will continue to ensure that criminals are held accountable and public property remains secure.
