Both BJP and Congress have officially announced their candidates, while several independent contenders have also entered the fray, making the electoral battle more competitive.

The BJP has fielded Morpal Suman, the current Pradhan of Baran, as its candidate, while the Congress has once again placed its bet on senior leader and former minister Pramod Jain Bhaya. Adding to the intrigue, Naresh Meena, once associated with the Congress, has also filed his nomination as an independent candidate.

In a last-minute twist, Ramphal Meghwal, former BJP MLA from Baran-Atru, also entered the contest by filing his nomination just before the deadline, further intensifying the political fight.

Traditionally, the Anta seat has witnessed a direct contest between BJP and Congress, but this time, rebel and independent candidates are expected to significantly impact the vote equation.

Political observers believe that Naresh Meena could influence the youth and Meena community votes, while Ramphal Meghwal, belonging to the Scheduled Caste community, may affect the BJP’s traditional vote bank. Both major parties are expected to revise their strategies accordingly.

The scrutiny of nomination papers will be conducted on October 23, followed by the withdrawal of nominations allowed until October 27. The final list of contesting candidates will be declared thereafter. Voting will take place on November 11, and the results will be announced on November 14.

According to official data, the Anta Assembly constituency has a total of 2,27,563 registered voters, including 1,16,405 male, 1,11,154 female, and 4 third-gender voters. The district administration has set up 268 polling booths to facilitate the voting process.
