Amit Shahs UCC Statement Sparks Political Debate Ahead of Elections

New Delhi, September 15 (Daily Kiran) : Political tensions have escalated following Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent comments regarding the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in 21 states ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Mohsin Raza, Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Minority Commission, expressed strong support for the UCC, describing it as a law that safeguards the rights of all citizens.

In a conversation in Lucknow, Raza emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has prioritized the UCC as part of its agenda, and the central government is moving forward with this commitment. He accused the opposition of opposing beneficial initiatives, asserting that the UCC is intended for the public and national interest. “If the UCC is meant to benefit the general public, why is there opposition?” he questioned, adding that the public desires the UCC’s implementation, while the opposition’s dissent appears politically motivated.

In Patna, Upendra Kushwaha, National President of the Rashtriya Lok Morcha and Rajya Sabha member, stated that his party is awaiting a detailed proposal from the government regarding the UCC. Once the proposal is available, it will be reviewed, and the party will discuss its stance internally before making a decision.

Kushwaha also noted that Janata Dal (United) Executive President Sanjay Jha mentioned discussing the matter with Amit Shah. He remarked that each party will form its opinion independently and will clarify its position after reviewing the proposal.

Additionally, while assessing flood-affected areas in Bihar, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan received praise from Kushwaha for the efforts of both the central and state governments in providing relief. He stated that the governments are sensitive to the flood situation and are working to assist affected individuals. After evaluating the damage caused by the floods, he expressed optimism about positive initiatives from the central government. He stressed the need for more effective rescue and relief operations in the impacted regions.

Responding to accusations from Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav regarding law and order in Bihar, Kushwaha remarked that the opposition should be allowed to voice its opinions freely.
