New Delhi, August 12: In response to recent protests by students in Jharkhand and various political challenges, BJP spokesperson RP Singh launched a strong attack on the opposition. He highlighted issues such as the alleged police crackdown on demonstrators, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s challenge from Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, and comments from SP leader Ramjeelal Suman regarding the singing of ‘Vande Mataram‘ at the Red Fort.
Singh asserted that Rahul Gandhi lacks the courage to face issues in Parliament and is avoiding discussions. He emphasized that the Home Minister is prepared to answer questions in the House, urging the opposition not to shy away from debate. “When the lion roars, the jackals flee,” he remarked, suggesting that Gandhi does not believe in the spirit of parliamentary democracy.
Addressing the student protests in Jharkhand, Singh accused Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s government of failing to address the dissatisfaction among students regarding job opportunities. Allegations have surfaced that individuals are paying between 50 lakh to one crore rupees for a single job, yet the government remains silent on these claims. Students are demanding a CBI inquiry, but the government is evading this request. “Soren should manage his state; Modi Ji will handle the country,” Singh stated.
Following the protests, Singh commented on the BJP’s call for a shutdown, noting that while students demonstrated peacefully, they faced alleged brutality. He described the security measures at protest sites as excessive, comparing them to those at the India-Pakistan border. Although students initially crossed these barriers, they returned around 7 PM at the request of their leaders, only to face renewed police action.
Singh also referenced a statement from Congress leader and state minister Ansari, who denied any police violence. He pointed out that images of the crackdown have been broadcast on various news channels, yet the government continues to deny the use of force. “The Hemant Soren government has crossed all limits in this matter,” he asserted.
On the topic of ‘Vande Mataram,’ Singh criticized Ramjeelal Suman’s remarks, stating that the song is deeply connected to India’s freedom struggle and holds significant historical importance. He urged Suman to recognize the sacrifices made by freedom fighters during the independence movement.
Regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to hoist the national flag in every home by August 15, Singh described this initiative as a BJP-led campaign supported by the government. He noted that citizens across the country are embracing this movement, which aims to foster patriotism and national unity. The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga‘ campaign seeks to strengthen respect for the national flag and instill a sense of national pride on Independence Day.
In light of ongoing disruptions in Parliament, Singh responded to BSP leader Mayawati’s comments, stating that her remarks are more applicable to Congress. He reiterated that the BJP is ready to discuss all issues in Parliament, encouraging the opposition to participate in debates rather than obstruct proceedings. “Parliament is a platform for democratic dialogue, and all significant issues should be debated,” he concluded.
