Gandhinagar, July 22: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah virtually inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects exceeding ₹815 crore in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar and Sabarkantha districts. These initiatives encompass health services, transportation, water conservation, and public facilities.
During the event, Shah inaugurated the ₹89 crore Aluva-Sadara bridge and the Charada Community Health Center. He also laid the foundation for two dams on the Sabarmati River, with a total cost of ₹716.14 crore.
In his virtual address, Shah emphasized that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the development momentum in Gujarat continues to thrive under Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
He stated that approximately ₹817 crore worth of development projects have been dedicated to the public in the Mansa and Prantij assembly constituencies.
Shah noted that the Aluva-Sadara bridge will facilitate easier movement for local residents, students, and pilgrims, boosting tourism to the Jaksini Mata temple.
He highlighted that the Charada Community Health Center will provide 24-hour dialysis services, an operation theater, a neonatal intensive care unit, and other modern medical facilities, benefiting over 100,000 people in the vicinity.
Additionally, Shah inaugurated a community building in Raniyapur, an elevated water tank in Alkapuri, and a new building for the Sanskar Bhavan Trust in Bapupura village.
Paying tribute to the late Padma Shri and Jnanpith award-winning author Raghuveer Chaudhary, he remarked that despite coming from a farming family, he lived a life of simplicity. The Sanskar Bhavan built in his honor will inspire future generations.
Shah mentioned that the new dams on the Sabarmati River will provide a long-term solution for irrigation and drinking water issues in Charada, Mansa, and Ridrol, allowing for water storage for nearly eight months.
He added that these projects could raise groundwater levels by 5 to 10 feet, benefiting farmers and livestock owners while also promoting tourism and wildlife conservation. He also announced the construction of a modern civil hospital in the Mansa area.
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel stated that Gujarat is among the states most effectively implementing Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a ‘Developed India.’ Over the past 12 years, the state has made significant progress in infrastructure, rural development, education, health, and connectivity.
Patel emphasized that development is not just about building structures; it is a means to enhance comfort, security, and prosperity in people’s lives.
He noted that where roads are built, job opportunities increase; where health centers are established, community safety strengthens; and where education expands, the future becomes brighter.
State Health Minister Praful Pansheriya announced the establishment of new primary and community health centers at a cost of ₹1.50 crore. Additionally, cochlear implant surgeries for children with hearing and speech difficulties are now being offered free of charge at civil hospitals, with costs ranging from ₹8 to ₹10 lakh.
Water Resources Minister Ishwarsinh Patel revealed that the Gujarat government is constructing several new dams from the Dharoi Dam to the Khambhat Gulf for the rejuvenation of the Sabarmati River.
He mentioned that the foundations for the ₹413.63 crore Hirak Dam and the ₹302.51 crore Rakhiyal Dam have been laid, with a total project cost of ₹716.14 crore. These initiatives will enhance water storage capacity in North Gujarat and improve the availability of irrigation and drinking water.
