Kolkata, March 8: Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a strong attack on the West Bengal government and the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Saturday. This criticism came in response to a controversy surrounding the change of venue for the 9th International Santhal Conference, where President Droupadi Murmu was the chief guest.
In a statement released on social media, Shah accused the TMC government of grossly violating protocol and disrespecting the President of India. He stated that the government’s actions have crossed new limits of chaos, revealing its corruption. He emphasized that the TMC not only arbitrarily infringes on the constitutional rights of citizens but also disrespects the President with its tyranny.
Shah remarked that the insult to the highest constitutional office during an event organized by our tribal brothers and sisters is an affront to our nation and the values that define our constitutional democracy. He expressed that every citizen who believes in democracy is deeply hurt and distressed by these actions.
BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde also condemned the behavior of the West Bengal government, noting that it was a direct insult to tribal communities, women’s empowerment, and the highest constitutional office, despite prior knowledge of President Murmu’s visit.
He stated that this reflects the mindset of the Mamata Banerjee government, which is intoxicated by power. Tawde asserted that the people of Bengal will certainly respond to this disrespect.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi stated that while they may be perceived as weak, they are not weak enough to remain silent while their family’s honor and the dignity of President Droupadi Murmu are insulted.
He promised a strong response, declaring that every Dalit and tribal community member will seek retribution for the insult to President Murmu. “We will take revenge, we will change the situation,” he declared, rallying support with slogans like “Abua Dishum, Abua Raj, Mamata Raj Tundu Jana” and “Jai Johar… Jai Birsa…”
