Indian Army Debunks Fake Claims Linked to Senior Officer on Social Media

The Indian Army warns against false claims circulating on social media regarding military readiness and China’s presence in Arunachal Pradesh.

New Delhi, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian Army has issued a warning regarding false claims being spread on social media under the name of Lieutenant General Neeraj Shukla. A manipulated video, featuring misleading statements about China’s military capabilities and its increasing presence in Arunachal Pradesh, has been circulating widely.

The Army has labeled the video as fake and cautioned the public against falling for such disinformation. According to their statement, the video is being disseminated by accounts linked to propaganda efforts associated with Pakistan. It falsely attributes statements to Lieutenant General Shukla, alleging that India struggles to effectively counter China’s advanced military technologies and its growing presence in Arunachal Pradesh.

Additionally, the video makes erroneous claims that the government prioritizes its interests over those of the Indian Army. It attempts to link outdated military equipment to soldier casualties and increasing discontent among troops. These assertions aim to undermine the Army’s capabilities and the trust soldiers have in the government.

The Army’s fact-check revealed that the original video dates back to October 2025. It had been digitally altered to include statements that Lieutenant General Shukla never made. This manipulation presents the old footage in a new and misleading context, attempting to mislead viewers regarding sensitive issues related to the India-China border. The goal appears to be to erode public confidence in both the Indian Army and the government.

The Army clarified that any statements attributed to them in the video should not be considered credible. The method of disinformation is particularly concerning, as it involves taking existing footage, digitally modifying it, and then presenting it as military statements. This tactic aims to create confusion and distrust among the public regarding border issues.

The Indian Army urges individuals to verify the source and context of any sensitive videos shared on social media before accepting them as true. Just because a video features a senior military officer’s name or image does not guarantee the authenticity of its content. This fact-check serves as a reminder of the need to remain vigilant against misleading videos that use old footage and digital alterations to present false claims as reality.
