Mumbai, March 5: Actor Amit Bahl is thrilled about his upcoming film ‘Jai Hind Jai Sindh.’ He revealed that this film is a love story set against the backdrop of the partition, highlighting themes of patriotism, love, and Indian values. Bahl has a deep personal connection to this project.
In an exclusive interview, Amit shared that he comes from a refugee family. His grandparents and parents migrated from Sindh to India during the India-Pakistan partition. As a child, he heard many fascinating stories about Sindh from his Sindhi friends, which still resonate with him today.
Some members of the film’s production team, like Sameer and Vani, also share similar Sindhi backgrounds, making this project even more special for them.
When asked about his involvement in the film, Amit said, “This is a unique love story that beautifully showcases love for the country and true Indian values. When I learned about the cast, which includes legends like Mahesh Manjrekar, Chhaya Kadam, my old friend Rahul Dev, Zarina Wahab, and Jaya Prada, and after seeing director Indrajit Lankesh’s previous work, I felt confident about this project. I believe it’s essential to be part of such an important story.”
Discussing his character, Amit revealed that he plays the father of the lead actor. Initially, his character is ruthless, wealthy, and has a negative shade, lacking empathy. However, as the story progresses, he undergoes a positive transformation and becomes a better person. Amit believes that audiences are drawn to layered characters that are unique.
He also spoke about portraying negative or gray-shaded roles. Amit emphasized that a good actor should be capable of playing positive, negative, and gray roles. He cited Bollywood stars like Sanjay Dutt, who has played memorable roles as both hero and villain, and Amitabh Bachchan, who portrayed a powerful negative character in ‘Aks.’ This versatility defines a true artist.
‘Jai Hind Jai Sindh: A Love Story’ is directed by Indrajit Lankesh and produced by Samiz Entertainment. The film also features Vikram Kochhar and Upasana Singh among its cast.
