Ajay Rai Pays Tribute to Khamenei in Old Lucknow, Questions Central Governments Silence

Lucknow, March 3: Ajay Rai, the President of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee, visited the predominantly Shia area of Old Lucknow on Monday to pay tribute to the late Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. During his visit, he met with senior Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Jawad to express his condolences.

Rai remarked that Khamenei did not choose the path of surrender even in difficult circumstances, remaining steadfast in his principles. He described Khamenei’s martyrdom as a symbol of courage and commitment, asserting that his influence on global politics will be remembered for years to come.

The Congress leader also raised concerns about the central government’s response to Khamenei’s passing. He stated that it is unfortunate that such a significant international figure’s death did not elicit a clear expression of sympathy from the government.

According to Rai, India has a tradition of dialogue, coexistence, and respect on a global scale; thus, the government’s silence raises many questions. He highlighted the historical ties between India and Iran, noting that their cultural, commercial, and diplomatic relationships date back centuries.

Rai accused the current central government of failing to strengthen these ties as expected due to its policies. He emphasized that India should prioritize balance and humanitarian values in its foreign policy to enhance the country’s traditional image on the international stage.

During the visit, local residents and community representatives also expressed their sorrow over Khamenei’s death. Congress leaders stated that promoting global peace and dialogue is essential in these times.
