New Delhi, March 16: Ajay Alok, spokesperson for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), welcomed the results of the Bihar Rajya Sabha elections, describing them as a symbol of support for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the democratic process. He stated that the election outcomes met expectations, with the victories of all NDA candidates considered predetermined.
In an interview with a news agency, Alok remarked that the results of the Bihar Rajya Sabha elections were entirely as anticipated. The BJP and NDA were confident that all five of their candidates would win. He also noted that the NDA’s position in the Rajya Sabha is strong, with the alliance holding a majority.
Alok targeted the Congress and opposition parties, claiming that the Congress’s position has weakened in several states, and the so-called opposition alliance has been completely exposed. According to him, the political developments in Bihar and other states clearly indicate the declining support for opposition parties.
With elections scheduled in several states on April 9, Congress leader Nana Patole raised questions regarding the delay in announcing the election results. Patole argued that results should be declared within two to three days of voting, while this time, results are expected to be announced on May 4.
In response to Patole’s statement, BJP spokesperson Ajay Alok expressed confusion over why the opposition comments on such matters. He emphasized that determining election dates and schedules is the responsibility of the Election Commission, not opposition leaders. He sarcastically noted that it seems some leaders have made it a habit to comment on every issue, which only wastes the country’s time.
He further stated that no opposition party has openly welcomed the electoral process, even though elections are the greatest festival of democracy. According to him, opposition parties are anxious about the elections because they anticipate defeat. He accused them of making unnecessary statements out of frustration over the prospect of losing.
Meanwhile, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) stated that they would contest elections together if they receive respect. In response, Ajay Alok commented that the JMM should consider how respectfully Congress treats them. He claimed that it has been observed in Bihar that Congress has not given the JMM the respect it deserves, and this is something allied parties should understand.
