New Delhi, March 14: Amid the ongoing conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran, Air India and Air India Express are set to operate a total of 80 scheduled and non-scheduled flights to and from the West Asia region this Saturday.
Both airlines will continue their scheduled flights to Jeddah and Muscat on March 14. Air India will operate a total of 10 flights to Jeddah, while Air India Express will run 8 scheduled flights to Muscat.
Additionally, Air India will provide one round-trip flight from Delhi to Jeddah and two round-trips from Mumbai to Jeddah. Air India Express will also operate one flight each from Kozhikode and Mangaluru to Jeddah.
For Muscat, Air India Express will run its scheduled flights, including one round-trip each from Delhi, Kochi, Kozhikode, and Mumbai.
Beyond the scheduled flights, Air India and Air India Express will operate a total of 62 non-scheduled flights to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia, depending on available slots at airports and other prevailing conditions.
The airline stated that these flights will commence once the necessary approvals are obtained from the relevant Indian and local regulatory authorities. Meanwhile, IndiGo has announced that, due to a significant rise in aviation turbine fuel prices linked to tensions in the Middle East, it will implement a fuel surcharge on both domestic and international flight tickets starting March 14.
The surcharge will range from ₹425 to ₹2,300, depending on the domestic or international route.
This decision comes as airlines face rising operational costs due to increasing jet fuel prices amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in the Gulf region. Previously, Air India and Air India Express had also announced a fuel surcharge on air tickets. According to the airline group, a fuel surcharge of ₹399 per ticket for domestic flights became effective on March 12. This surcharge also applies to flights to destinations in the South Asian region.
