Ahmedabad Unveils High-Tech Crematorium with Modern Amenities

Ahmedabad, March 17: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has inaugurated a high-tech crematorium in the Shilaj area of the northwest zone. This facility showcases a blend of modernity and environmental conservation, constructed at a cost of approximately 170 million rupees.

Equipped with two CNG furnaces and four wood-based furnaces, the crematorium also features parking, waiting and sitting areas, a prayer hall, and a cafeteria. These amenities aim to ensure that visitors experience minimal inconvenience during the last rites.

Local resident Kamlesh Bhai expressed relief, stating that previously, residents had to travel long distances for cremation services. The new facility’s proximity has significantly eased this burden.

Jitendra Patel noted that the state-of-the-art crematorium is equipped with both CNG and wood furnaces. The addition of a cafeteria, prayer hall, and other essential facilities enhances its utility.

Spanning approximately 12,000 square meters, the crematorium includes special arrangements for the safe storage of ashes. It also provides drinking water and other basic amenities to accommodate visitors from afar.

Devang Dani, chairman of the standing committee, mentioned that the municipal corporation is modernizing all crematoriums in the city to provide a respectful and organized environment during times of grief. He also revealed plans to establish similar high-tech crematoriums in five other areas of the city.

Located near the Shilaj village lake, this cutting-edge crematorium not only alleviates citizens’ concerns but also offers a serene and orderly atmosphere. It is emerging as a model for other cities to follow.
