Afghanistan secured a convincing 7-wicket victory over Bangladesh, advancing to the final against Zimbabwe in the ODI Tri-Series.

Sharjah, October 21 (Daily Kiran) : Afghanistan clinched a decisive 7-wicket victory against Bangladesh in an ODI tri-series match held at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on October 21. This loss meant that Bangladesh missed out on a spot in the final, which will see Afghanistan face Zimbabwe on October 23 at the same venue.
Winning the toss, Bangladesh opted to bat but struggled, collapsing to just 160 runs in 41.2 overs. They faced early setbacks, losing two wickets in quick succession during the second over. Both dismissals were credited to Yamin Ahmadzai, who dismissed Tanzid Hasan for 1 and Soumya Sarkar for a duck.
Saif Hasan briefly steadied the innings, adding 21 runs with Najmul Hossain Shanto for the third wicket, bringing the score to 27. However, disaster struck in the seventh over when Azmatullah Omarzai took two quick wickets, dismissing Shanto for 15 and captain Towhid Hridoy for 0, leaving Bangladesh in deep trouble at 28 for 4.
Despite the turmoil, Saif Hasan partnered with Parvez Hossain Emon to add 93 runs for the fifth wicket, pushing the score to 121. Unfortunately, Saif Hasan’s dismissal for 41 triggered another collapse, and Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan swiftly wrapped up the innings, taking two wickets in the first two balls of the 42nd over and reducing Bangladesh to 160 all out.
Rashid Khan was the standout bowler for Afghanistan, claiming 4 wickets for 31 runs in 8.2 overs. Azmatullah Omarzai and Yamin Ahmadzai each picked up 2 wickets.
Chasing a modest target, Afghanistan chased down the runs in 35.3 overs. The opening partnership yielded 26 runs before Rahmanullah Gurbaz was out for just 6. The team faced further trouble at 39, losing their second wicket, Sedikullah Atal, for 4.
Captain Rahmat Shah then took charge, building a crucial partnership of 56 runs with Ibrahim Zadran for the third wicket. Zadran scored 34 off 48 balls before being dismissed. Rahmat Shah continued to anchor the innings, forming an unbeaten 66-run partnership with Hashmatullah Shahidi, leading Afghanistan to a comfortable victory.
Rahmat Shah finished with an impressive 67 runs off 90 balls, including 5 fours, while Shahidi contributed an unbeaten 36 runs off 54 balls, hitting 4 fours. For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed managed to take 2 wickets for 36 runs, while Mustafizur Rahman claimed 1 wicket.
