
New Delhi, August 8: Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (ABFRL), a leading player in the fashion and lifestyle sector, faced significant losses in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2026-27 (April-June). The company reported a consolidated net loss of ₹248.73 crore, marking a 6.4% increase from the ₹233.73 crore loss recorded in the same quarter last year.
According to stock exchange filings, the company’s pre-tax loss also rose to ₹320.26 crore, compared to ₹259.50 crore during the same period last year.
Despite the losses, ABFRL experienced a rise in sales. The revenue from operations in the June quarter increased by 10.6%, reaching ₹2,025.56 crore, up from ₹1,831.46 crore in the previous year.
However, the company’s expenses grew at a faster rate than its total income. Total expenses for the quarter surged to ₹2,395.45 crore, compared to ₹2,148.75 crore a year earlier. This sharp increase in costs contributed to the widening losses.
Including other income, the company’s total income stood at ₹2,081.58 crore, while it was ₹1,895 crore in the same period last year. The net loss attributable to the company’s shareholders was recorded at ₹215.24 crore.
The most pressure on the company’s performance was observed in its ethnic wear and other segments, where losses increased to ₹188.54 crore from ₹178.82 crore a year ago. However, revenue from this segment rose to ₹830.79 crore, compared to ₹754.57 crore in the previous year.
On the other hand, the Pantaloons business reported a slight profit of ₹3.48 crore, down from ₹3.67 crore last year. Pantaloons’ revenue increased to ₹1,204.39 crore, compared to ₹1,094.13 crore a year earlier.
Before inter-segment adjustments, the company’s total segment revenue for the June quarter was ₹2,035.18 crore, up from ₹1,848.70 crore last year.
The company’s stock performance remained relatively stable in the market. On Friday, shares of Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail closed nearly flat at ₹63.41 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE). Over the past 52 weeks, the stock has reached a high of ₹94.95 and a low of ₹53.51.
