Mumbai, April 14: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar resigned from his position on Tuesday. In a related development, Samrat Chaudhary has been elected as the leader of the BJP’s Bihar legislative party. Senior leader of the Samajwadi Party, Abu Azmi, expressed that justice has not been served to Nitish Kumar. He stated that if any fairness had been applied, a Chief Minister would have been appointed from the JD(U).
In a conversation in Mumbai, Azmi mentioned that he has known Nitish Kumar for a long time. He described Kumar as a very simple person. Azmi asserted that if Kumar had not supported the BJP, they would not have been able to form a government, nor would they have had a Chief Minister. He pointed out that Kumar has changed governments multiple times and is now facing the repercussions of those decisions. Azmi believes that Kumar, a follower of B.R. Ambedkar, made a significant mistake by resigning. He predicts that Kumar’s departure will weaken the BJP.
Regarding the Bengal elections, Azmi stated that the BJP will try to win by any means necessary, which is detrimental to democracy. He urged the public to stand against such actions, asserting that the people are in favor of Mamata Banerjee.
Azmi claimed that Humayun Kabir was backed by the BJP, and a sting operation revealed this. He accused the BJP of attempting to win elections by dividing Muslim votes.
On the Women’s Reservation Bill, Azmi clarified that he is not opposed to it. However, he suggested that if separate reservations were made for Dalit and Muslim women, it would amplify women’s voices.
Commenting on Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Jayanti, Azmi emphasized that this day is significant for marginalized Muslims. He stated that the Constitution, crafted by Ambedkar, grants him the right to live in this country. In the current climate of communalism, he believes the Constitution empowers the oppressed. Azmi warned that the government seeks to strip away this power.
He criticized the government’s actions, stating that the Constitution does not permit the demolition of homes for crimes. He highlighted that the Constitution does not endorse violence or discrimination against Dalits. Azmi accused the government of undermining Ambedkar’s ideals while publicly celebrating him.
He stressed that the Constitution provides equality and reservations for weaker sections to compete fairly in society. Azmi expressed concern that the government is attempting to eliminate reservations through backdoor methods.
On the issue of drugs, Azmi lamented that the government could prevent even a bird from flying if it wanted to, yet it fails to control this problem.
Regarding the topic of love jihad, Azmi stated that he does not believe any Muslim would forcibly convert someone. He called for a thorough investigation into the matter, asserting that the Quran clearly prohibits forced conversions, the construction of temples on mosques, and coerced marriages.
