Abdul Al-Sayed Wins Senate Seat in Michigan, Calls Victory an Honor and Privilege
Abdul Al-Sayed is elected as Michigans next senator, marking a historic milestone as the first Muslim in the U.S. Senate.

Washington, November 4 (Daily Kiran) : Abdul Al-Sayed has emerged victorious in the race for Michigan’s Senate seat, defeating Republican candidate Mike Rogers in the recent midterm elections. This win marks a significant milestone, as Al-Sayed will become the first Muslim to serve in the U.S. Senate.
Following his victory, the physician took to social media platform X to express his gratitude. He stated, “It is an honor and a privilege to serve Michigan in the U.S. Senate. We accomplished what many said was impossible. We won, together. Now the real work begins.”
During his campaign, Al-Sayed faced considerable scrutiny related to his faith. In his acceptance speech on Wednesday night, he addressed his supporters with enthusiasm, saying, “My name is Abdul Rahman Al-Sayed, and we have won in Michigan. I am proud to stand before you as your elected senator.”
In a light-hearted moment, he remarked, “We all know that my name and my religion have not made your gas prices higher, nor have they caused you trouble buying groceries or visiting the doctor.”
Al-Sayed also took a jab at former President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, stating, “I know you have trouble pronouncing my name. So, when JD Vance swears me in as senator in January, you can just call me senator.”
Throughout his campaign, Al-Sayed emphasized key issues such as making healthcare accessible for all, reducing inflation, and advocating for the cessation of U.S. military aid to Israel.
