New Delhi, September 14 (Daily Kiran) : The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) following the cancellation of a scheduled visit by the Public Accounts Committee to former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal‘s official residence at 6 Flag Staff Road. The visit, which was set for Monday afternoon, was called off after AAP challenged the BJP to reveal the truth about extravagant claims regarding the residence, including allegations of a golden toilet, a bar, and a swimming pool.
During a press conference at AAP’s headquarters, spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar accused the BJP of being afraid to disclose the reality of the CM’s residence. She claimed that the BJP’s decision to cancel the visit indicated their fear of being exposed. Kakkar highlighted an incident from Saturday night when masked individuals were seen entering the CM’s residence in a Public Works Department (PWD) truck, questioning their intentions.
Kakkar contended that if the committee had proceeded with the visit, it would have debunked the BJP’s false narratives. She characterized the BJP as a party steeped in deception, recalling a meeting in 2019 where Home Minister Amit Shah instructed party workers on how to conduct misleading campaigns, similar to those they have run in Delhi.
She further criticized the BJP for its focus on sensational claims regarding Kejriwal’s residence while failing to address substantial issues like education and healthcare. Kakkar showed media representatives a video purportedly demonstrating the BJP’s false claims about the presence of luxury amenities in Kejriwal’s home.
In her remarks, Kakkar noted a previous visit by AAP leaders, including Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh, to the residence, where they faced heavy police presence and barricades. This, she argued, was an effort by the BJP to prevent the truth from surfacing.
Kakkar reiterated the need for the BJP to clarify the purpose of the masked individuals’ visit and to account for the substantial renovations made to central ministers’ homes in Lutyens’ Delhi over the past two years. She concluded by emphasizing the importance of addressing critical issues like education, electricity, and infrastructure rather than engaging in misleading campaigns.
The controversy continues to unfold as the AAP seeks transparency and accountability from the BJP regarding its claims and actions.
