New Delhi, March 22: On Sunday, 90 flights are scheduled to operate from the UAE to India. Additionally, flights from Saudi Arabia and Oman are also continuing, according to government sources.
The statement mentioned that with the partial reopening of airspace, Qatar Airways is expected to operate approximately 9-10 unscheduled commercial flights to India on Sunday.
Kuwait’s airspace remains closed, while Jazeera Airways has commenced flights from Saudi Arabia’s Al Qaisumah Airport to various destinations in India. Furthermore, Bahrain’s airspace is still shut, although Gulf Air continues to operate special unscheduled commercial flights from Saudi Arabia’s Dammam Airport to India.
In light of the restrictions on flights from Kuwait, Bahrain, and Iraq, travel for Indian citizens is being facilitated via Saudi Arabia.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Shipping, Ports, and Waterways announced on Sunday that it is closely monitoring shipping activities, port operations, and the safety of Indian sailors while ensuring the continuity of maritime trade amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The statement revealed that over 547 Indian sailors have been safely repatriated, with 13 returning in the last 24 hours. All Indian sailors in the Middle East are reported to be safe, and no incidents involving Indian-flagged vessels have occurred in the past 24 hours. Currently, 22 Indian-flagged ships with 611 Indian sailors are located in the Persian Gulf. The Directorate General of Shipping is coordinating with ship owners, RPSL agencies, and Indian embassies to monitor the situation.
The statement further noted that the DG Shipping control room is operational 24/7, having responded to 3,730 calls and 7,058 emails, including 60 calls and 129 emails in the last 24 hours.
Port operations in India are continuing normally, with no congestion reported. State maritime boards have also confirmed smooth operations.
