
New Delhi: A recent report reveals that 76 percent of Indian employers plan to generate new jobs across various sectors in the first half of 2026. This data is based on inputs collected from over 1,250 employment providers as part of a biennial survey conducted by Naukri India.
Sector-wise Job Growth Outlook
The healthcare sector is expected to lead with 88 percent new job roles in early 2026. Manufacturing follows with 79 percent of the upcoming roles being new positions. The Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector forecasts 70 percent of jobs as new openings, while the Information Technology (IT) sector anticipates 76 percent.
Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Employment
Regarding the influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on jobs, 87 percent of employers believe AI will not significantly affect employment levels. Conversely, 18 percent feel AI is creating fresh job opportunities, especially in IT, analytics, and marketing domains.
Dr. Pawar Goyal, Chief Business Officer of Naukri.com, stated, “In the first half of 2026, 76 percent of employers will focus on generating new employment opportunities.” He further explained that AI is emerging as a catalyst for creating new roles, particularly in IT, analytics, and marketing sectors, emphasizing the ongoing need for continuous skill development as companies prepare for workforce transformation.
Demand for Entry to Mid-Level Professionals
The report highlights a rising demand for early to mid-level professionals. IT and manufacturing sectors are expected to drive mid-level hiring, while healthcare will predominantly focus on entry-level positions.
According to the survey, 69 percent of IT employers anticipate the highest demand for mid-level professionals with 4-7 years of experience. Meanwhile, 65 percent of healthcare employers plan to recruit candidates with 0-3 years of experience, indicating a trend toward nurturing fresh talent in the healthcare industry.
