Moga, May 21: The administration in Moga, Punjab, is taking the escape of 31 patients from a rehabilitation center very seriously. Following the incident, Deputy Commissioner Sagar Setia established a three-member fact-finding committee on Thursday to investigate the matter thoroughly. This committee is tasked with submitting its report to the district administration by May 22.
According to reports, the patients fled the rehabilitation center late Wednesday evening, causing a stir within the administration and health department. An email from the Deputy Medical Commissioner of Moga indicated that eight of the escaped patients were admitted under Section 64-A of the NDPS Act, raising concerns about significant security lapses.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that due to the seriousness of the incident, an immediate investigation was ordered. The administration believes this escape points to negligence on the part of the responsible officials and shortcomings in security measures. The inquiry committee comprises the Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), the Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), and the Deputy Medical Commissioner.
