Beijing, March 4: On March 4, 25 Chinese nationals who were evacuated from Iran departed for their homeland. They had arrived in Turkmenistan on March 3.
In the evening of March 3, the evacuated individuals reached Ashgabat International Airport, the capital of Turkmenistan. A team from the Chinese embassy in Turkmenistan assisted with the check-in procedures. Chong Hua, the acting charge d’affaires at the embassy, met them at the airport, stating, “The motherland has always been a strong support for Chinese citizens living abroad. The party and government are always concerned about the safety of every Chinese citizen overseas. The embassy stands with its compatriots and will make every effort to ensure their safety. We wish all our citizens a safe and smooth return home.”
Among those evacuated was Ma Hailong, a Chinese student studying in Iran. He expressed, “When we first heard the news of the war starting, we were terrified, fearing that shells could fall on us at any moment. Fortunately, we immediately contacted the Chinese embassy in Iran, and we felt relieved. Reaching out to the embassy felt like being with family during childhood. We felt very safe.”
At the beginning of March, the Chinese embassy in Turkmenistan issued a notice and promptly sent a team to the border to assist Chinese nationals returning home. The embassy affirmed its commitment to helping those evacuated from Iran and ensuring the safe return of its citizens.
