15-Year-Old Vaibhav Suryavanshi Scores Fastest IPL Fifty in Just 15 Balls

Guwahati, March 31: In a thrilling match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, 15-year-old opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi achieved an incredible milestone by scoring a half-century in just 15 balls while playing for Rajasthan Royals. This remarkable feat places him as the joint third-fastest player to reach fifty in IPL history. Leading the list is Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored a fifty in just 13 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2023.

Suryavanshi shares the third spot with several players, including KL Rahul, Pat Cummins, and Romario Shepherd, who accomplished this in 14 balls. Notably, before Suryavanshi, cricketers like Yusuf Pathan, Sunil Narine, Nicholas Pooran, and Jake Fraser-McGurk had also scored fifties in 15 balls. Fraser-McGurk has achieved this feat twice.

Among Rajasthan Royals players, Yashasvi Jaiswal holds the record for the fastest fifty (13 balls), while Suryavanshi now ranks second and third, having previously scored a fifty in 17 balls against Gujarat Titans in 2025. Jos Buttler reached the fifty mark in 18 balls against Delhi Daredevils in 2018.

In the match held at Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Chennai Super Kings, batting first after losing the toss, managed to score only 127 runs in 19.4 overs. Jamie Overton was the top scorer for CSK with 43 runs, while Karthik Sharma and Sarfaraz Khan contributed 18 and 17 runs, respectively. From the opposition, Jofra Archer, Nandre Burger, and Ravindra Jadeja each took two wickets.

In response, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, provided a stellar start for Rajasthan Royals, forming a partnership of 75 runs in just 6.2 overs. Suryavanshi scored 52 runs off 17 balls, hitting 5 sixes and 4 fours before being dismissed.
