Yusuf Pathan Rallies Support for TMC Candidate in West Bengal Elections

Kolkata, April 21: The political landscape in West Bengal, governed by the Trinamool Congress (TMC), is heating up as elections approach. On Tuesday, TMC leader Yusuf Pathan held a rally in support of party candidate Sandipan Saha, reiterating his belief in the TMC’s victory in the upcoming elections.

In an interview with a news agency, Pathan stated, “TMC is receiving tremendous public support. Sandipan Saha is a very popular leader who has done commendable work. His father also contributed significantly. He has been elected as a representative multiple times. Sandipan’s victory is certain because the people of the area admire him. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has also implemented many development initiatives, garnering public support.”

TMC candidate Sandipan Saha expressed confidence, saying that there is 100% support for Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. “Bengal lives in Mamata Didi. No one has considered any alternative, nor will they. Regarding the anti-incumbency issue, the opposition has no other topics to discuss, which is why they are focusing on it. Anti-incumbency applies only to governments that fail to deliver. Our government sets benchmarks every five years and achieves them, creating new standards. The TMC government works for the people, so there is no talk of anti-incumbency here.”

Saha also addressed concerns regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, stating, “SIR occurred in every state, but the way it was conducted in Bengal was wrong. Names were removed from the list of those who voted in 2024. Valid voters were disenfranchised. Most people only have voter ID as identification; not everyone possesses a passport. The Constitution does not state that one must pass the 10th grade to vote. The Election Commission issues voter IDs, and the Aadhaar card is provided by the Government of India. If they do not recognize their own ID, it appears that the SIR process was intentionally mismanaged.”

On the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) issue, he remarked, “UCC is a national issue. If the central government wants to implement it, they shouldn’t wait for the Bengal elections. They were in power in 2014 and 2019, and now they are discussing UCC in 2024 elections. They lack real issues, so they are fabricating topics.”

The TMC candidate concluded by noting, “Bengal has witnessed ED and CBI raids before. Many ministers have been arrested, but what was the outcome? The ED has become overly active during elections. It is clear that the central government is misusing agencies to create pressure during elections. Once again, a government for the people will be formed, and Mamata Banerjee will become Chief Minister for the fourth time.”
