YouTube Moves Subscriptions Tab to Top Bar in Mobile App Redesign
YouTube will remove the Subscriptions tab from the bottom bar on its mobile app, placing it in a redesigned top navigation bar.

YouTube will remove the Subscriptions tab from the bottom navigation bar of its mobile app and move it to a new top bar as part of a redesign. This change aims to enhance user experience and will affect both Android and iOS platforms.
The new interface features a simplified top bar with tabs for Subscriptions, Live content, Music, and custom feeds. The Subscriptions tab, previously at the bottom for nearly a decade, will now be more prominent. Custom feeds will allow users to influence their video recommendations based on specific interests.
YouTube began testing this redesign earlier this year. Subscriptions will occupy the second position under the Home tab, marked by a red underline. This shift may require adjustment for long-time users accustomed to the old layout.
Custom Feeds Feature
YouTube will also introduce a custom feeds feature, allowing viewers to create personalized content streams by entering prompts related to their interests. Users can describe what they want to see, and YouTube will generate a tailored feed.
YouTube CEO Neal Mohan said, “With custom feeds, we’re giving you the keys to your homepage.” Free users can save up to three custom feeds, while YouTube Premium members can save up to eight. The feeds will update automatically as new videos are released.
This update is currently available for signed-in users in the U.S., with plans for a wider release soon. Users must have their watch and search history enabled to utilize the custom feeds feature.
