Lt. Governor Tarunjeet Singh Sandhu urges youth to embrace the values of the Ramayana during the annual Ram Leela at Red Fort.

New Delhi, October 18 (Daily Kiran) : The annual Ram Leela at Red Fort in New Delhi drew prominent figures, including Lieutenant Governor Tarunjeet Singh Sandhu and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. This event continues to attract large crowds each year.
During the festivities, Sandhu emphasized the importance of the teachings from the Ramayana and the ideals of Ram Rajya established by Lord Ram. He stated, “This Ram Leela at the Red Fort inspires us deeply. We are committed to addressing the issues faced by the people of Delhi, moving towards the vision of Ram Rajya. The inspiration that the Ramayana and Lord Ram provide remains relevant today. Our youth, who represent the largest young population in the world, should draw motivation from the positivity and values of the Ramayana.”
Actor Manish Chaturvedi echoed these sentiments, urging the younger generation to attend Ram Leela. He noted the recent protests at Jantar Mantar, highlighting the negative language used during those events. He believes that the youth possess immense potential and passion to contribute to the nation but require proper guidance. Chaturvedi remarked, “They can find direction through Ram Leela and the character of Lord Ram. I encourage young people to attend and adopt the ideals of Lord Ram in their lives.”
The tradition of Ram Leela near the Red Fort has been celebrated for over a century by the Shri Dharmik Leela Committee. Originating during the Mughal era along the sandy banks of the Yamuna, this cultural practice symbolizes the ideals of Lord Ram, including sacrifice, truth, and the triumph of righteousness. In 2008, UNESCO recognized Ram Leela as an “Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.”
