Mumbai, March 15: Xiaomi has officially unveiled the design and key features of the Xiaomi Watch S5, a new sports smartwatch that emphasizes durability, premium materials, and extended battery life. The company plans to launch the watch later this month.
The Xiaomi Watch S5 showcases a redesigned structure featuring an integrated bezel and a forged 316L stainless steel body. This material is renowned for its strong corrosion resistance and durability, making it ideal for daily wear. The integrated bezel design allows for a slimmer profile compared to previous models while maintaining a solid, premium feel.
Unlike earlier versions that utilized modular components, the Watch S5 incorporates a non-removable bezel. This design choice minimizes the border around the display, enhancing the visible screen area. The unibody bezel also contributes to a thinner watch, improving comfort for everyday wear or formal occasions.
Xiaomi will offer various bezel designs and finishes. Two standout options include Midnight Blue and Forged Carbon. The Midnight Blue bezel features ceramic material with white glazed time markers and 24 carved facets for a polished appearance. The Forged Carbon variant employs a layered forging process, resulting in a unique texture and a sportier look.
The smartwatch will also be available in three stainless steel bezel options. The black and silver variants boast a clean design paired with fluororubber straps, suitable for both sports and daily use. The silver eSIM model comes with a gray genuine leather strap, offering a more classic aesthetic.
The crown of the watch features a concentric-circle texture, adding a touch of detail to the overall design. Additionally, Xiaomi includes several watch faces inspired by traditional analog watches, incorporating elements like Roman numerals and moon phase complications.
Xiaomi claims that the sensors on the Watch S5 have been fully upgraded for more accurate health monitoring. The watch also serves as a control center on the wrist, enabling users to manage compatible smart home devices and connected cars. Battery life is another highlight, with Xiaomi asserting that the Watch S5 can last up to 21 days on a single charge.
In China, pricing is expected to align closely with the previous Xiaomi Watch S4. The Bluetooth variant may start at around 999 yuan, while the eSIM model could be priced at approximately 1,199 yuan. Xiaomi has yet to announce details regarding a global release. However, following the recent launch of the Xiaomi Watch 5 in international markets, the Xiaomi Watch S5 is anticipated to arrive globally in the coming months.
