Bangladesh Clinches ODI Series Against Pakistan with Thrilling Victory

Dhaka, March 15: Bangladesh secured a thrilling victory over Pakistan by 11 runs in the third ODI match held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Sunday. The heroes of Bangladesh’s triumph were Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Taskin Ahmed. With this win, the host team claimed the three-match series 2-1. Bangladesh had previously won the first match by 8 wickets, but Pakistan bounced back in the second match, winning by 128 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis rule, making the final match a decisive encounter.

Batting first after losing the toss, Bangladesh posted a total of 290 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. The opening pair of Saif Hasan and Tanzid Hasan put together a solid partnership of 105 runs in 18.1 overs. Saif scored 36 runs off 55 balls, including 3 fours, before getting out.

Tanzid then partnered with Najmul Hossain Shanto for the second wicket, adding 53 runs in 67 balls to take the score to 158. Najmul contributed 27 runs before returning to the pavilion.

Tanzid continued to build momentum, adding 36 runs with Liton Das for the third wicket, bringing the score to 194. He scored 107 runs off 107 balls, hitting 7 sixes and 6 fours, marking his first international century.

Towhid Hridoy then took charge, forming a 68-run partnership with Liton Das for the fourth wicket, propelling the team to a formidable total. Liton scored 41 runs, while Towhid remained unbeaten on 48 runs off 44 balls. From the opposition, Haris Rauf was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 52 runs, while Shaheen Afridi and Abrar Ahmed claimed 1 wicket each.

Chasing a daunting target, Pakistan was bowled out for 279 runs. The start was disastrous for the visitors, losing 5 wickets for just 82 runs. Salman Agha then stabilized the innings, partnering with Saud Masood for a 79-run partnership for the sixth wicket, bringing the score to 161.

Saud scored 38 runs off 44 balls before departing, leaving Salman to lead the charge. He added 48 runs with Faheem Ashraf and 52 runs with Shaheen Afridi, inching closer to the target but ultimately fell short. Salman Agha scored 106 runs off 98 balls, hitting 4 sixes and 9 fours, while captain Afridi contributed 37 runs. For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed was the star bowler, taking 4 wickets for 49 runs, while Mustafizur Rahman claimed 3 wickets. Nahid Rana took 2 wickets, and Rishad Hossain added 1 to the tally.
