Beijing, April 24: Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, Chinese President, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, recently issued a significant directive. He highlighted that Yiwu’s small products have entered a vast market and evolved into a major industry. This has led to the acquisition of the “Yiwu development experience,” which serves as a successful model for developing county-level economies based on local conditions.
Xi stressed the need to further summarize and effectively utilize these “Yiwu development experiences.” He urged all sectors to innovate and reform based on their own resource endowments, while respecting grassroots initiatives and public sentiment. The goal is to work diligently and pragmatically, ensuring a commitment to finding high-quality development paths that align with local realities, thereby providing better guidance for the overall development and integration of the country.
Notably, during his tenure in Zhejiang Province, Xi Jinping visited Yiwu multiple times to study and promote its development experiences. In recent years, Yiwu has written new chapters in the development of the “large market for small products.” Currently, the number of business entities in this market has exceeded 1.26 million, with trade relations established with over 230 countries and regions. By 2025, its foreign trade exports are projected to rank first among all counties (cities and regions) in China.
